c’mon science, get with it

“We, as bone [researchers], thought of the skeleton as functioning independent of everything else,” said [Cliff Rosen, a bone biologist]. This group “asked the question, ‘could there be other regulators outside the skeleton that are regulating bone?’ and found the answer to be ‘yes.’” [The Scientist].

Found the whole write-up on bone chemicals being made in the stomach here. What gets me, what really gets me, is every time they ‘discover’ that parts of the body are linked, and not completely separate systems (there was some recent study finding out that, yes, what goes on in the brain affects the rest of the body. How no one figured that out before, despite miles of nerve wiring connecting the brain to, yes, every single part of your body, is beyond me.)

Hello science! Yes, every system is intimately interconnected, and potentially any part of any system can affect other parts or the whole. That is how everything works, from the entire universe down to the three quarks bound with gluons that make up a proton. If you don’t believe me, go read about the mysterious “dark flow” that is causing a large percentage of structures in our universe to head towards one spot.

Honestly, if scientists thought that the bones of a body had nothing to do with the rest of the body systems, how on earth could eating right help your bones?
