Credit Growth vs. Stock Growth

my silly comparison of credit growth vs. stock price growth

my silly comparison of credit growth vs. stock price growth

Really, this is kind of interesting – the comparison at the bottom, with one super-imposed on another, the markets were distorted to fit the size of the credit chart – the stock chart is percentage based, so it doesn’t actually matter how it’s sized when doing the comparison, i’m just looking for over-all shape here.

Notice how, in the 80s, the markets really started to take off – precisely about the time the Greatest Generation gave way to Gen X. The Greatest Generation took out loans maybe for the house – maybe. They were all well-scarred by the fuckuperry that ran our economy into the ground in Depression 1.0. Gen X grew up hating their parent’s miserly ways, and says “Yay, credit! Let’s totally fucking live beyond our means, fuck our stodgy old parents. What do they know anyway?”

Well, we all know the end of this story. We’re living it. Remember, a real-estate, credit and stock bubble preceded Depression 1.0.
