I durn screwed the pooch with the last mp3 export. There was a problem with sample length timing at the original 192khz output from ableton. 48khz exporting seems to have fixed the problem.

I also have changed the bitrate to 320 so it wont be losing out on any bass or high end.

Spent some more hours tinkering with the tune, worked out a problem I was having with MP3 compression making the bass drum kill the mix. Audacity + LAME FTW. A real mp3 encoder, boo-ya. I tried to use .AAC, but despite podcasting basically being invented to be used with iTunes and the iPod, it’s not compatible with AAC. But my solution was pretty easy so no sweat (besides that generated by the heat from my tiny silicon godhead).

I’m posting this now because I’m ages late on my schedule, but in my head I’m revising even as I do the final mp3 listen-through to make sure nothing’s too ugly for the world to see.

If two players appear, one will be broken, the other should work. If all else fails, click here to download the mp3 directly.

Thinking about adding some lyrics to this in the next week or so, now that ubervocording is at my disposal. Spent a few hours tightening up the mastering on this tonight, a lot happier with it than the last time I listened to it. If, for some reason, two copies of the podcast player show up in this post (I swear, I can’t win), the second one seems to be the one working in the post preview. And if that doesn’t work, download!

mic checkin, mic wreckin

More like podcast checkin, feed wreckin but wtf-ever it’s got to be done. My old podcasting software ate itself somewhere along the line, so I googled best wordpress podcasting plugin, and now I’m trying that out.

Now, in the internet age, you have to test in public to however many people feel you worthy of their time. It always makes you look like a jackass that doesn’t have your shit together. Short of running a duplicate site somewhere, I’m screwed.

However, I have only had to configure like 3 things to make this podshat work, and it allows me to copy/paste my URLs rather than doing UNIX voodoo to get permissions to read a directory properly (or wtf ever took me 2 weeks to fix).

So let’s see if this shit is fast and tears ass around the solar system or just explodes into a big flaming mess of shite when I mash on the accelerator (i.e. is it a honda or is it a ford)

oh, and sorry about the cracklies folks, an artifact of mp3 compression overloading, not actually me trying to break your speakers. (it’s not there in the uncompressed wave, just need to EQ some more to prevent the encoder from freaking out) you can tell it’s an artifact because it shows up no matter how low you set your volume. in other words, you’re hearing the noise of overloading without actually having to worry about speaker blow-out.
