And that number doesn’t include an additional 1.47 million people receiving benefits under an extended unemployment compensation program approved by Congress last year. That tally was as of March 7, the latest data available.

They’re almost getting it. They finally wised up to the fact that the unemployment number only covers people getting state-sponsored benefits. Pretty soon they’ll figure out that the unemployment number doesn’t cover the rest of the people not employed, and then we’ll finally see a shitstorm when the media realizes that unemployment is actually closer to 15%. Though by that time, it’ll be closer to 20%.
