Much love to #OCZ – Read this #VistaTweakers

And follow all the instructions. OCZ to the rescue with registry hacks to enable High-Performance Vista.

It cut my boot time in half or more. I thought I had disabled superfetch and prefetch and all that shit by disabling the services, but no, they’re actually still enabled via the registry it seems.

Also, Vista has a setting where it can cache your L2 cache to speed up processing. Despite no processor having more than 12 megs of L2 cache right now, this feature it turned… off. That’s right. Also, NTFS disk caching in memory is turned… off. That’s right. Also, Vista declines to cleared paged virtual memory at shutdown. So it probably clears the paging file out page by page as necessary during normal operations, probably reads the whole damned thing at boot.

My hard drive grind-on-boot has also eased up. I am seriously impressed. Thanks OCZ! I’d rip out my ram and backup drive and kiss them, except I don’t want to take my computer apart.
