* Extend: Max for Live

Max for Live is a new product that puts the power and potential of Max/MSP inside Live. With Max for Live, it’s possible to create completely new instruments, effects and extensions that go beyond the common and predictable and transcend the limits that conventional tools impose. The possibilities are virtually endless, from completely unique synths and effects, algorithmic composition tools or radical, new music machines fusing Live and controller hardware. Max for Live is a chance to join a society of makers and share ingenuity.

Max for Live is a joint development project by Ableton and Cycling ’74.

What this should mean to you: not a damn thing, really.

What this means to me: someone can program a virtual interface for controlling things such as my Kurzweil 2600, which can then be integrated into Live. Totally sweet!

Of course, I have no money to upgrade to the new version of Live right now, discount code or no discount code. Short of begging the internet for money, it’ll be a while before I can access all the sweet new features coming from Ableton Live 8. When I do get it though, oh it’s on baby.

Update: It appears as though it will only be about $250 for the upgrade version, if I upgrade before July, or $280 afterwards. I think I might be able to earn that in extra funds between now and then. To cogitatorium!
