posthuman, precyborg, transhuman?

“A record-breaker at the Paralympic Games in 1996, Aimee Mullins has built a career as a model, actor and activist for women, sports and the next generation of prosthetics.” In this TED talk, she “talks about her prosthetic legs — she’s got a dozen amazing pairs — and the superpowers they grant her: speed, beauty, an extra 6 inches of height … Quite simply, she redefines what the body can be.”

And, damn, yes, she would be hot even with real legs. But with hand-carved wooden legs, clear cast polyurethane legs (shades of “The Saddest Music in the World“), articulated cheetah legs and tail… theres just some quintessential hotness in the protocyborg that no mere human could match. I’m thinking if I had the cash I might lop off my lowers and go preborg for athletic boost – less weight with carbon fiber legs.
