Good stuff. He calls for re-thinking the international ban on chewing coca leaves, as it has been a part of the region’s history since 3000 BC. He makes a pretty good argument to not consider the natural leaves to be in the same class as cocaine, since it is non-narcotic in it’s natural state. He draws some comparisons to nicotine and caffeine, all -ines, all natural plant products. Quinine, another -ine, the first known treatment for malaria, is another all-natural beneficial substance, discovered by native Peruvians.
