Rock and roll is about sex and anger and declaring that you are alive, not making your fucking grandmother smile while she knits condoms with the Pope’s face on the side. It’s the hymns for the church of booze and pills and cigarettes and orgasms I’m talking about, not some walking colostomy bag in a bad hat singing through his nose about how he’s a waste of a good womb. It’s about being an epic fucking human being.

An Octopus’ technological love story
Saturday, April 17th, 2010
A.K.A. an octopus makes a student art movie.
If that’s not the craziest shit you’ve seen today (that’s not computer generated) …
via rachetcat and probably just about everyone else by now. Cuz an octopod thief getting taken on a joyride, man and beast in harmony is truly an amazing site.
generating stairs, Escher would be starting to be proud
Wednesday, April 14th, 2010
Notice how the spiral switches direction, and the stairs on the bottom become the stairs on the top. Not an optical illusion, but a trick on anyone travelling down. M. C. Escher would be starting to be proud. This was the tamer of the pieces on display.

Embedded video (may or may not function)
Maybe I’m late to the game, but damn, this is utterly amazing. And except for the people, absolutely unreal, as are the emotions it manages to stir. It makes me feel something I can’t define that’s almost, but not quite, sadness, not even bittersweet. Freudenschade maybe? I guess it expresses in perfect visual metaphor what it can feel like to go after the things you’re driven to in life.
And I’m apparently not the only one that finds it so. The guy had Hollywood agents and managers on the phone with him within days of posting. I imagine the conversations went something like this: Boss to underling, “Hire this man or fire yourself.” And if you’re interested, his digital home is here.
