new #music update – may’s end

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Spent some more hours tinkering with the tune, worked out a problem I was having with MP3 compression making the bass drum kill the mix. Audacity + LAME FTW. A real mp3 encoder, boo-ya. I tried to use .AAC, but despite podcasting basically being invented to be used with iTunes and the iPod, it’s not compatible with AAC. But my solution was pretty easy so no sweat (besides that generated by the heat from my tiny silicon godhead).

I’m posting this now because I’m ages late on my schedule, but in my head I’m revising even as I do the final mp3 listen-through to make sure nothing’s too ugly for the world to see.

If two players appear, one will be broken, the other should work. If all else fails, click here to download the mp3 directly.

robot makes music – nekotrax19

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Kind of the way Beethoven’s 9th symphony was known as Opus 125, only not kind of the way B’s 9th was earth-shattering. Probably started after nekotrax 18, but no telling how much longer or which was finished first. The road to successful music is paved with a lot of sonic fail. I am encouraged though, because I can tell that I get better the more I fail. There are more tinkly sounds, heavy beats, thin violin, plucked, twirling, whooshy noises. I am to please.

I’m going to go without the fancy sliders (not because I don’t <3 them, they just don’t function in RSS readers as far as I have deduced) for the time being.
[sorry, after all that and I forget to actually ATTACH the podcast file to the post. Whoops! At least I remembered to upload it to the server]

In other news, I’ve started sharing some music on Soundcloud, though anything you’ll find on there you’ll find on here, so it’s mostly just a way to drive traffic here.

robot makes music – in the company of telephone

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

A track from the commie breakin era. Very strange, blippy, gated to hell and back and the phone just wont stop ringing no matter how many times you answer it, man.

well, I almost made it on my one-a-day-to-present schedule, only missed by five minutes.
