Pogo – Alice (robot makes music edit)

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I’ve known about this song for a lot of years. Always thought it would make a great track to mix with. So I got out some brass tacks and pinned some extra beats to it.

And, the link to the 3 of em pee that yours truly has worked over with the bit hammer.

the podcast below may show up in the RSS, or may only show up on the webs. your mileage will vary.

organist plays symphony

Bach would have been jealous.

It’s a T.E.D. presentation so feed readers may need to click through.

All those psytrance fools complaining that their music is too complex to be played live are just that, fools. Especially so after a performance like this. It’s amazing. My professor that’s always poo-pood on electronic music needs to take another think-through.

new #music update – may’s end

Spent some more hours tinkering with the tune, worked out a problem I was having with MP3 compression making the bass drum kill the mix. Audacity + LAME FTW. A real mp3 encoder, boo-ya. I tried to use .AAC, but despite podcasting basically being invented to be used with iTunes and the iPod, it’s not compatible with AAC. But my solution was pretty easy so no sweat (besides that generated by the heat from my tiny silicon godhead).

I’m posting this now because I’m ages late on my schedule, but in my head I’m revising even as I do the final mp3 listen-through to make sure nothing’s too ugly for the world to see.

If two players appear, one will be broken, the other should work. If all else fails, click here to download the mp3 directly.

Late to the game again

But glad I arrived – Star Guitar by the Chemical Brothers [embedding disabled]. Got turned on to it because [twitter]@libredegrasa sent me a link to the making-of video.

Which makes no freakin sense if you haven’t seen the actual video first. But hey, it’s about time the rhythmic nature of dance music got taken up into the visual arena. Mostly it’s just half-naked women writhing almost to the beat of the music (when edited well)…. and those are the better dance music videos. We’ll not get into the others, which involve really stupid 3d aliens and half-naked women not writhing to anything.

In other news, just about final on the Angry Pharmacist wordpress makeover. The actual working document is less than 50 megs short of a gig, almost 40 layers and full-on 16-bit color (getting a something less than 11×17 printed when I’m done).

Further smithing has been done upon the forge of Live, with Operator’s fiery blasting keeping beats hot and epic Electric chiming layered over everything. Too much? I dunno, before I go too much farther I must consult with my parter in beatcrime, but I wanted to see what my meat-free space friends might think.
