The Singularity may be Physical

Lectures on holographic methods for condensed matter physics

Yes. I’m a huge nerd. But it occurs to me that the singularity may not be computationally driven, it may be physics driven. Physics revolutionized information systems in the 20th century. Once we pass up quantum physics and enfold it within string theory or whatever comes up to supplant it, we may see a revolution in our current information systems as world-shattering as the one we saw last century. Quantum technologies gave us everything computer. What might string-technology based computing be like? Will we rip apart what we consider the normal fabric of the universe to create string-based quantum computing pocket-universes? The computing power of the world now is mind-altering compared to what we saw at the turn of last century. In my lifetime we’ve gone from the homebrew computer club programming altairs with switches to PCs generating limited pocket existences for us to play around in, in everyone’s living room.

I’m not gonna pretend to understand more than 20% of that PDF, but I understand enough to know that the weird shit we’re discovering today is going to be tomorrow’s technology for toys, and it WILL BE GOOD.

All Science Be Critized and Found Good or Disproved. Amen.
